inDrive Introduces Cashless Payment Solution in Brazil with dLocal

Published 6 months ago

Global mobility and urban services platform, inDrive, has implemented a new payment solution for its Brazilian app users. This has been made possible through a collaboration with dLocal, a payment platform designed to connect global businesses with consumers in emerging markets.

New Payment Infrastructure: dLocal for Platforms

The partnership’s latest product is “dLocal for Platforms”, a payment infrastructure for marketplaces that was launched in April 2023. The new feature enables the swift and easy acceptance of payments and the disbursal of funds to sub-accounts within a single solution. inDrive recently introduced this all-in-one product in Brazil, facilitating cashless transactions for its users.

Brazil marks the first implementation of a cashless solution by inDrive. With dLocal for Platforms, drivers and riders can now collect and disburse funds through local and alternative payment methods, such as PIX. This simplifies the previously complex process where drivers needed to top up in-app wallets and inDrive subtracted their commission. Now, when a rider pays, the payment goes directly to inDrive, which then issues the drivers’ payouts.

A Significant Step for inDrive

Alexander Akhmataev, inDrive’s Latin America Director, shared his excitement about offering a modern cashless solution to Brazilian drivers and riders. He emphasized that this is a significant step for inDrive, marking its first implementation of a direct cashless solution globally.

Since 2019, inDrive and dLocal have been committed to offering localized payments starting in Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. By the end of 2021, the partnership expanded to over 20 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

dLocal’s Role in Facilitating Cashless Transactions

Diego Halegua, Head Account Management - EMEA at dLocal, stated that enabling inDrive to adopt the cashless vertical was a logical progression in their partnership. dLocal’s Platforms was developed to simplify the process of receiving and distributing cross-border payments to multiple accounts and sub-accounts. It is particularly beneficial to the gig-economy industry, including online marketplaces, ride-sharing, and social media eCommerce.
