ClearBank, a provider of secure accounts, real-time clearing, and embedded banking for financial institutions, has made significant changes to its group board. The shakeup features the appointment of Peter Herbert, the former chair of Zopa, as the new ClearBank group chair.

Peter Herbert Takes the Lead

Herbert brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served almost six years as the chair of Zopa. He also continues to hold the position of chair at the Bank of Ireland (UK).

Additional Board Appointments

In addition to Herbert’s appointment, ClearBank has introduced three other new group board members: Tim Wade, Richard Anderson, and Susanne Hannestad. These appointments are part of ClearBank’s strategy to enhance its international growth plans over the coming year.

Tim Wade, who also serves as the chair of the audit committee at Royal Bank of Canada Europe and Virgin Money, will become the senior independent director and group chair of ClearBank’s audit committee.

Richard Anderson has been named the group chair of ClearBank’s risk committee. Anderson previously held the position of non-executive chair at Banking Competition Remedies and was a former Chair of the risk committee at Pay.UK.

Finally, Susanne Hannestad, who holds board positions at Triodos Bank, Monty Mobile, Crunchfish and Zimpler, is set to become a non-executive director at ClearBank.

Future Aspirations

Charles McManus, Group CEO at ClearBank, expressed optimism about the company’s future, stating that ClearBank has great ambitions and is eager to build on the success it has enjoyed since its founding less than a decade ago.

ClearBank currently serves approximately 200 clients, including Raisin and Chip, and reported its first full year of profitability last September, with revenues doubling year-on-year.
